It wouldn’t be surprising to hear the names of "virtually every" Cleveland Indians’ player in trade discussions this winter, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, who lists those mostly likely to be dealt as right-fielder Shin-Soo Choo, closer Chris Perez and shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera:
Don’t be surprised to hear the names of virtually every Indian in trade discussions this off-season.
Choo is set to reach free agency following the 2013 season. While the Indians have expressed interest in re-signing the outfielder, he appears intent on hitting the open market and using his impressive track record to cash in.
Over eight seasons in the majors Choo has hit .289/.381/.465. Last year the 30-year-old hit .283/.373/.441 with 43 doubles, 16 home runs and 21 stolen bases in 28 attempts.
Perez has taken his criticism for the Indians’ organization public several times, and while he’s been effective as the team’s closer he is certainly a trade candidate. He’s maintained an ERA of 3.07 with 99 saves over 220 appearances for Cleveland.
Cabrera is under contract through the 2014 season, and he owns a career line of .279/.342/.416. The 26-year-old hit .270/.338/.423 with 35 doubles and 16 home runs over 555 at-bats last season.
