San Francisco Giants Sign Andres Torres

The San Francisco Giants have agreed to a one year deal with outfielder Andres Torres, per the team's announcement. The outfielder will be slated to make $2 million over the course of the Major League deal.

Torres, who played center field with the team when they won the World Series in 2010, will take a physical later on in the week to seal the deal.

A switch hitter, Torres will likely platoon with the Giants other center fielder Gregor Blanco and mostly play against left handed pitchers. He is also a good option to pinch run late in games.

Torres was traded to the New York Mets a year ago before he was non tendered by New York. He was traded along with right handed relief pitcher Ramon Ramirez for outfielder Angel Pagan, but now the Giants are reunited with Torres, who has been a fan favorite.

He will be turning 35 in January, and hit .286 against left handed pitchers last season, something that the Giants were looking at for that potential outfielder platoon.
