The Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to terms on a $50,000 deal with young Dominican outfielder Geraldy Martinez, reports the Dominican Prospect League:
The Brewers sign outfield prospect Geraldy Martinez...
The right hand hitting outfielder’s best tool is his bat; He has good bat speed and hits the ball hard gap to gap with true power from pull side.
The report -- which should be taken with a heavy grain of salt because the DPL wants to make Martinez look as marketable as possible -- also states that right-handed hitter is quick and boasts "solid" arm strength.
Listed at 6' 3", 180-lb, the 17-year-old Martinez obviously has some filling out to do, which could help his power numbers as he progresses in his development.
Martinez -- who only spent a short while in the DPL before getting picked up -- worked with trainer Christian "Niche" Batista, who also worked with recent MLB signees Neivy Pilier (Nats), Gustavo Cabrera (Giants), and Domingo Leyba (Tigers).
