No matter how far ahead you plan to do your holiday shopping, there always seems to be one or two little things that need to be bought at the last minute. Not wanting to be left out of the holiday frenzy, several MLB teams did some last-minute Christmas shopping of their own over the weekend before MLB's offices shut down for the holiday.
We covered the weekend's biggest deals -- Nick Swisher to the Indians, Raul Ibanez to the Mariners, Cody Ross to the Diamondbacks -- but there were several other moves made that fell through the cracks.
Most of the deals and roster moves were small -- stocking stuffers, if you will -- but that does not mean they could not pay off in the end.
Here is a quick recap of some of the minor moves we may have missed in the past few days:
Signings / Acquisitions
Cleveland Inidans sign LHP Scott Kazmir to a minor-league contract with spring training invite.
Seattle Mariners sign RHP Jeremy Bonderman to a minor-league contract with spring training invite.
Texas Rangers sign RHP Yoshinori Tateyama to a minor-league contract.
Rangers claim LHP Jeff Beliveau off of waivers from the Chicago Cubs.
Oakland Athletics sign RHP Brian Gordon to a minor-league contract.
Toronto Blue Jays claim INF/OF Russ Canzler off of waivers from the Cleveland Indians.
Cleveland Indians sign RHP Joe Martinez, C Brian Jeroloman to minor-league deals.
San Francisco Giants claim RHP Sandy Rosario off of waivers from the Cubs.
Other Moves
Houston Astros outright OF Che-Hsuan Lin and INF Brandon Laird to Triple-A.
Boston Red Sox outright RHP Pedro Beato to Triple-A.
Detroit Tigers sell the contract of LHP Adam Wilk to the NC Dinos of the Korean Baseball League.
