Hey guys, we've had a ton of content since the winter meetings and it's easy to miss a rumor here, a signing there. So we're reviewing the past several stories right here, all in one place.
Here's the latest from the Boston Red Sox:
- We are now well into week three of Napoli-gate, as (re)negotiations between the free-agent first baseman/catcher and the Red Sox continue to go nowhere.
- Things have escalated a bit in the last two days, as both sides have dabbled in a bit of posturing to get a leg up in their talks: Boston has re-opened their discussions with free-agent first baseman Adam LaRoche, while Napoli's representatives have reported that the slugger is in conversations with another club.
- The Red Sox did not let the approaching holiday slow them down last week, bolstering the back end of their rotation by acquiring right-hander Joel Hanrahan from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for four players. Fans and experts are split on whether the move is beneficial to the club, as the veteran looks to take over the closer role from the oft-injured Andrew Bailey.
- About a week prior to their acquisition of Hanrahan, the Red Sox signed free-agent shortstop Stephen Drew to a one-year, $9.5 million deal.
