Orioles rumors: Baltimore a fit for Nationals slugger Mike Morse?

The Orioles and Nationals could potentially match up for a trade that would send outfielder/first baseman Mike Morse from Washington to Baltimore in exchange for a left-handed reliever, reports Dan Kolko of MASN Sports:

The Orioles strike me as one team that could be a good match, given their need for a middle-of-the-order bat and Morse's ability to play left field, first base or DH. Baltimore's roster is stocked with left-handed relief types (Brian Matusz, Troy Patton and Rule 5 pick T.J. McFarland are currently on the 40-man), giving Rizzo and Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette some options in negotiations.

Kolko notes that if the Nationals are able to re-sign free agent Adam LaRoche the club would be poised to shop Morse to help fill other areas of need. One major area of need could end up being a left-handed reliever if Washington fails to sign one this winter.

In this situation, Kolko believes the Orioles and Nationals would match up well for a trade. Baltimore is seeking a middle-of-the-order bat and has an opening at first base. The Orioles also have several left-handed relievers on their roster, including T.J. McFarland, Brian Matusz and Troy Patton, that could appeal to Washington.
