The Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox have emerged as two of the suitors for free agent right-hander Kyle Lohse, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports:

The Angels and Red Sox have emerged as two of the suitors for star free-agent pitcher Kyle Lohse.

Heyman notes that Lohse and several of the market’s other top starting pitchers are waiting for the Zack Greinke sweepstakes to sort themselves out. Lohse should fit with the Angels, who are seeking pitching, and while the Red Sox have targeted offense early they are also interested in adding a pitcher, according to Heyman.

Lohse spent the 2012 season with the St. Louis Cardinals, posting an ERA of 2.86 over 33 starts. His impressive campaign garnered Cy Young consideration, but the Cardinals decided to part way with him due to their bevy of pitching depth.

Lohse owns a career ERA of 4.45 with 5.6 strikeouts and 2.6 walks over 12 seasons at the major league level, but he’s posted an ERA of 3.90 over the last five seasons with St. Louis.
