The Mets have announced the extension for David Wright.

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports that the Mets have officially announced the contract extension for David Wright.

As the report says, the Mets will hold a press conference at noon ET tomorrow in Nashville to announce the signing.

Wright was thankful in a quote in the team's press release, saying the following:

“I’d like to thank Fred Wilpon, Saul Katz and Jeff Wilpon for their commitment to me since I was drafted,” said Wright. “I’ve grown up in this organization and made lifelong friendships with teammates, uniform personnel and front office staff. I’m grateful for the opportunity to finish what I’ve started and help bring the Mets and our fans a World Series title.”

Wright is the Mets' all-time leader in hits and RBIs, and is closing in on a number of other statistics.

The 8-year extension he signed will include next season, cancelling out the final year of the previous extension he signed with the team.

The press conference will be broadcast on SNY, the Mets' TV network, and Mets.com.
