Signings / Acquisitions
Boston Red Sox received minor league pitcher Graham Godfrey to complete the trade that sent Sandy Rosario to the Oakland Athletics.
The Yankees avoided arbitration with left fielder Brett Gardner, signing him to a $2.85M deal for 2012 with $150,000 in incentives.
Ongoing Rumors
The Yankees and the Red Sox have both been connected with top free agent slugger Josh Hamilton following the end of the Winter Meetings. It appears the former Texas Ranger is holding out for a six or seven year deal, however, and both clubs are reluctant to commit that many years.
The Yankees are hoping to land ex-Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis to replace the injured Alex Rodriquez and they have offered him a one year/$12M contract. The choice for Youkilis seems to be down to the Yankees and Indians at this point.
The Red Sox are targeting a number of starting pitchers at this point. They have offered a two year/$25M deal to Ryan Dempster, who rejected it in hopes of landing a three year deal. They are expect to be in on Kyle Lohse as well.
The Tampa Bay Rays are still shopping James Shields and the Royals appear to be targeting him and fellow Ray Jeremy Hellickson as they search for a front line starter.
The Orioles are looking for a power hitter to boost their offense.
The Blue Jays are among the top suitors for R.A. Dickey, according to Buster Olney.
