Baltimore Orioles Weekend Update: Kim, Ayala, Johnson, Bergesen, Guthrie

This is the second weekend in a row we have an entire post dedicated to Orioles moves and rumors, which is a good thing if you like movement for the sake of it. And if you're into deckchair-moving and exercises in futility, the Orioles might just be your team. BUT! If/when one or several of these moves pay off, let's not act like it was a brilliant vision by the front office, but instead recognize just how bad that FO would have to be if none of these pay off (/trollface).

Here's the latest out of the O's camp:

• Thoughts on Kim - Britt Ghiroli
  "A league source confirmed that the Orioles had signed Kim without going through the proper channels mandated by MLB. The Korean Baseball Organization complained, and rightly so, that that the matter must go directly through MLB and were angered because they claim they were not informed of the Orioles’ talks with Kim until he signed. So, they do have grounds to be upset."
• 40-man maneuvering - Roch Kubatko
  "You know there have been a lot of changes when third baseman Josh Bell enters the debate over which player will be removed to make room for the next addition. Wasn't he considered one of the organization's top prospects following the George Sherrill trade? Now he's on the bubble."

• Baltimore Orioles, Luis Ayala Agree to Deal - MLB Daily Dish
  The Baltimore Orioles have signed right handed pitcher Luis Ayala to a major league deal, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN. Because it's likely to be a major league deal, Kubatko suggests a 40-man move should follow. Ken Rosenthal notes an option year might be a part of the deal.
• Orioles, Nick Johnson to Sign Minor League Deal - MLB Daily Dish
  The Baltimore Orioles have reached an agreement with Nick Johnson, according to Rock Kubatko. The deal includes an invite to spring training, though Mark Zuckerman of Nats Insider notes his injury history might prevent Johnson from landing on the big league roster.
• Orioles Win Arb Hearing Over Bergesen - MLB Daily Dish
  The Baltimore Orioles have won their arbitration hearing over Brad Bergesen, according to Roch Kubatko via twitter. Bergesen's 2012 salary will be $800 thousand instead of the $1.2 million he requested.
• Jeremy Guthrie Trade Reactions: Good Reasons to be Repulsed - MLB Daily Dish
  The idea, at least from what I can gather, is that Guthrie was only under control through this season, after which the Os would lose him anyway, and his market wasn't terribly good, and hey, they had one pitcher through 2012 and now they have two pitchers through 2013, and...excuses.
• Orioles Trade Guthrie to Rockies for Lindstrom, Hammel - MLB Daily Dish
  The Baltimore Orioles have traded their Opening Day starter Jeremy Guthrie to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Matt Lindstrom and Jason Hammel, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun. Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Guthrie has agreed to a 1-year deal with the Rockies, confirming the trade.
• Koji Uehara Drawing Interest from A's, Orioles - MLB Daily Dish
  The Oakland Athletics are pursuing Texas Rangers' pitcher Koji Uehara, according to Ken Rosenthal. The Baltimore Orioles remain interested as well, adds Rosenthal.
