The Cincinnati Reds had a big 2010, but fell out of the picture in 2011. As they look to compete in the central again, here are some notes surrounding their spring training.

  • Jon Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer says that Joey Votto would prefer to keep his contract talks to himself, the Reds and his agent. He says that the issue is exhausting and a distraction.
  • Jerry Cransick from ESPN says that Ryan Madson will stay a Scott Boras client, despite his disappointing contract returns this off season.
  • Mark Sheldon from talked to Reds third baseman Scott Rolen, who said he is only worried about this season and not anything after it.
  • Meggie Zahneiss from writes about Reds catching prospect Devin Mesoraco, and that he plans on proving his worth to the Reds in this year's Spring Training games, and looks for a chance to earn a role.
