The offseason is wrapping up and spring training is underway, but the Milwaukee Brewers owner plans to get his work started now. Brewers principal owner Mark Attanasio told Adam McCalvy of MLB.com he would like to wrap-up extensions for general manager Doug Melvin and manager Ron Roenicke before Opening Day.
"I slept like a baby this offseason, but [Doug] had a few sleepless nights, my guess is," Attanasio said. "He didn't want to get into either his contract or Ron's contract until we [began] camp. Those are two topics I'll discuss with him before Opening Day."
GM Doug Melvin's contract expires at season's end while the club holds a club option for manager Ron Roenicke. Teams usually take care of their general manager first, but I expect both of them to land multi-year extensions. You'll likely see Roenicke's contract extended the same number of years after Melvin's as well.
