The baseball season is starting to heat up, and with it, the toughest division in baseball. As players vie for jobs and talk about last season, here are some notes from around the American League East.
- Wallace Matthews from ESPN says that New York Yankees right fielder Nick Swisher recognizes that the Yankees rarely add years on top of an existing deal, and he expects to file for free agency.
- Eduardo Encina from the Baltimore Sun writes that there was a lot of competition for Baltimore Orioles outfielder Endy Chavez this off season. He says that Chavez had four or five teams interested in him.
- Gregor Chisholm from MLB.com says that the Toronto Blue Jays are open to the possibility of signing second baseman Kelly Johnson to an extension.
- Brittany Ghiroli from MLB.com writes that Baltimore Orioles left handed pitcher Tsuyoshi Wada is experiencing some left elbow discomfort. The team will wait a day or two to re evaluate the injury.
