The Cleveland Indians have announced that they have re acquired left handed pitcher Kelvin De La Cruz from the Texas Rangers for cash considerations.
Carlos Carrasco was placed on the 60 day disabled list to make room for De La Cruz. De La Cruz will be optioned to the Double A Akron Aeros. A 23 year old, De La Cruz pitched in 86 innings last year in Double A, with an ERA of 4.19.
The Indians had traded De La Cruz to the Texas Rangers on February 21st. He made one Spring Training appearance for the Rangers, and now he will be back in Indians camp and get ready to pitch with the Aeros for two seasons in a row.
De La Cruz has shown some control problems, typically walking a lot of batters, but his good stuff has shown him some success, as he also tends to strike out lots of opposing batters.
