Ken Rosenthal from FOX Sports tweeted earlier tonight that the Miami Marlins are not pursuing outfielder Vladimir Guerrero. It had been reported earlier in the day by a Spanish news paper that the Marlins had interest in the former Expos, Angels, Rangers and Orioles slugger.

The report says that the Marlins are happy with Austin Kearns and Aaron Roawand as their right handed hitters off the bench, and that they do not feel like Guerrero fits that role like the other two players can.

Guerrero had told El Caribe in the Dominican Republic that he had talked with the Marlins, but said that Ozzie Guillen was not happy with it. Guerrero also said that he did not see himself as a bench player despite his age.

Guerrero is currently an MLB free agent after he played as the regular Baltimore Orioles designated hitter in 2011. He said he would continue waiting for the Marlins.
