The St. Louis Cardinals announced that they've released a pair of veterans today: Alex Cora and Koyie Hill.

Alex Cora, 36, signed as a free agent with the Cardinals about a month ago. The middle infielder has posted a .648 OPS (72 OPS+) across 14 major-league seasons, most of that time spent with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Koyie Hill, meanwhile, signed with the Cardinals back in January. The 33-year-old catcher is coming off a three-year stretch during which he hit .219/.282/.304 with five home runs in 668 plate appearances.

Both Cora and Hill struggled in limited time this Spring. Cora had five hits -- all singles -- in 24 at-bats, while Hill had three hits in 16 at-bats.
