Red Sox starter Jon Lester and Rangers reliever Mike Adams have changed agencies to ACES. Both pitchers had previously been represented by SFX baseball.
Both players followed their agent Josh Yates, who recently moved to ACES. Yates is on his third agency, as he was let go by CSMG (now Octagon) in 2007. It's common for players to follow their agents.
SFX Baseball negotiated Lester's five-year, $30M deal three years ago and will still collect fees on the contract, which runs through 2014 if a club option is exercised. Lester had a 3.47 ERA in 31 starts in 2011. Adams, on the other hand, has become one of the top set-up men in the game, posting a 1.47 ERA between San Diego and Texas in 2011. Adams is in line for a big multiyear deal when he becomes a free agent after the 2012 season.
An SFX spokesperson said that it was Yates decision to leave the company and they wish him well.
