The Texas Rangers are having an interesting off-season following their back-to-back World Series appearances, with the biggest events being the Yu Darvish signing, the C.J. Wilson exodus, and Josh Hamilton's very public alcohol relapse. Putting the latter two behind them, the club moves forward.
The big news today is the Yu Darvish debut in a spring training game. Here are a few other notes:
- Martin Perez and Robbie Ross will both likely start the season in the Minors, reports Jeff Wilson.
- Randy Galloway of the Star-Telegram spoke to an independent baseball person that described Darvish's first outing as where he should be in early March ("nothing great"), but noted the upside was "better than the actual performance."
- Jeff Wilson of the Star-Telegram is reporting that Matt Harrison is trying to quit chewing tobacco. Good luck with that, Matt.
