Jim Bowden from ESPN says that Milwaukee Brewers right handed pitcher Zack Greinke plans to hire an agent at some point. He has been without an agent after leaving CAA a few months ago.
Greinke will be eligible for free agency after the 2012 season. Bowden says that Greinke will consider Brodie Van Wagenen, Casey Close, Adam Katz and Seth Levine as potential agents in the next few weeks or months.
Brewers GM Doug Melvin had said early last month that he wanted to work out an extension with the agent-less Greinke, and that still could be on the table. The fact that he looks to hire an agent could have no correlation to that, or it could be that he wants to have an agent negotiate for him. As likely the top free agent pitcher this off season, he could be looking for a deal north of one hundred million.
