Red Sox Notes: Repko, Silva, Pimentel, Saltalamacchia

Boston Red Sox spring training has been interesting to follow and there could be more to come out of their camp soon. Here are some news, notes and links on the Sox.

  • Yahoo! Sports reports that the Red Sox have signed minor league outfielders Jason Repko and Josh Kroeger. Repko played last season with the Minnesota Twins while Kroeger was a part of the Miami Marlins organization.
  • Alex Speier from WEEI says that starting pitcher Carlos Silva has shoulder inflammation and will no longer compete for a spot in the rotation, making them now have six candidates for the fourth and fifth spots.
  • Chris Mellen from Sox Prospects takes a look at pitching prospects Stolmy Pimentel and Drake Britton, who both struggled mightily last season.
  • Marc Normandin from Over the Monster, the SBNation Boston Red Sox blog, takes a look at what Jarrod Saltalamacchia brings with no more Tim Wakefield on the roster.
