UPDATE (6:42 PST): Jon Morosi of FOX Sports tweets that the two sides are working out details of a contract, and are close to an agreement.
According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in "serious talks" with outfielder Bobby Abreu. Abreu, 38, was released by the Los Angeles Angels a week ago after struggling to get things going this season; through eight games, Abreu posted a meager .593 OPS, and last season was arguably Abreu's worst (his 104 OPS+ constituted a career low).
Regardless, Abreu has put together marvelous numbers throughout his career, including a stellar .397 on-base percentage.
