Padres' Lefty Luebke Out At Least Until Next April

Cory Luebke is scheduled to have Tommy John surgery on Wednesday, according to Dan Hayes of the North County Times:

This follows a report from earlier this month in which a Luebke start was pushed back with elbow discomfort, but no MRI was scheduled. He did end up getting an MRI, which showed damage to the elbow, and was placed on the disabled list while he sought a second opinion. Now, that second opinion presumably points to required Tommy John surgery which will keep Luebke out at least until next April.

Luebke, 27, has pitched 188 innings as a professional since 2010, earning a 3.25 ERA in 55 games. He had pitched 31 innings in five games this season, and kept his ERA down to an excellent 2.61 while only giving up nine earned runs.

He was drafted by the Padres in the first round of the 2007 amateur draft.
