The Los Angeles Dodgers are definitely interested in Chicago Cubs right-hander Ryan Dempster, reports Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com. It was reported earlier today that Dempster and other Cubs veterans, including Matt Garza and Bryan LaHair, are in play this summer. Beyond the Dodgers, the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers are a few of the teams that have been tied to pitching to pitching this season.

Knobler adds that the Dodgers were interested in Dempster two years ago. At that time, Dempster didn’t want to leave Chicago and the Cubs decided not to trade him.

Dempster once again figures to be a coveted commodity on the trade market and this time it is expected that the Cubs will trade the 35-year-old.

Dempster, who’s in the final year of his contract, is making $14 million this season. The right-hander has posted an ERA and WHIP of 2.31 and 1.027 over his 11 starts this season.
