The Colorado Rockies signed supplemental first-round draft pick Eddie Butler, reports Troy Renck of the Denver Post. A press conference is scheduled at 5:30PM in which the Rockies will announce the signings of Butler, as well as David Dahl and Sean Willoughby. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Butler, the 46th overall selection, is a right-handed pitcher out of Radford University (Va.). Baseball America rated him as the top overall player in the draft from the state of Virginia. He is also a "ground ball machine with a long arm action and low arm slot that have him profiled as a reliever," writes Keith Law of ESPN.
