The Cleveland Indians have acquired right-handed reliever Esmil Rogers from the Colorado Rockies for cash considerations, reports Jordan Bastian of MLB.com.

The 26-year-old righty has an unsightly 8.06 ERA in 25 2/3 innings of relief for the Rockies this year, but also has an encouraging 29 strikeouts in that span. A spot starter for the Rockies in 2010-2011, Rogers owns a career 6.77 ERA, 7.8 K/9 and 4.5 BB/9 over parts of four big league seasons with the team.

To make room for the reliever on the Indians' 40-man roster, Triple-A catcher Luke Carlin was designated for assignment. The 31-year-old Carlin, a career minor leaguer, had a brief cup of coffee with the Tribe earlier this season, going 3-14 in four games.

Rogers is expected to join the club within the next few days. A corresponding move is still pending to free up a spot for the reliever on the 25-man roster.
