Jonathan Sanchez will be activated from the Kansas City Royals disabled list and make today’s start against the Milwaukee Brewers. A corresponding roster move will be announced later today.
Sanchez has been on the DL for the past month while dealing with left bicep tendonitis. Sanchez last appeared for the Royals on May 7 when he surrendered six runs on six hits and three walks in three innings against the Boston Red Sox.
Prior to rejoining the Royals rotation, Sanchez made three starts with Kansas City’s Triple-A affiliate while on injury rehab assignment. Over his three starts, Sanchez allowed 10 earned runs over his 13 1/3 innings of work.
The Royals acquired Sanchez in November along with left-hander Ryan Verdugo in exchange for outfielder Melky Cabrera. While Cabrera has been one of the game’s most productive hitters this season, Sanchez has struggled to a 6.75 ERA and 1.855 WHIP over his six starts.
