Vladimir Guerrero is not close to signing with a club right now, reports Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports. Guerrero was recently released by the Toronto Blue Jays. Last week, Morosi reported the Detroit Tigers had "lukewarm" interest in Guerrero.

The Blue Jays signed Guerrero to a minor league contract on May 10. The 37-year-old played in four games for Toronto’s High-A affiliate and another eight for their Triple-A club, hitting at a combined clip of .358/.364/.679 with four home runs, three doubles, a triple and 12 RBIs.

While he was producing well in the minors, Guerrero gave the Blue Jays an ultimatum last week. He reportedly demanded to be called up to the major league club and refused to continue playing in the minors. Toronto eventually decided to release Guerrero from his minor league deal just over a month after it was signed.

Last season, Guerrero posted an OPS of .733 with 13 home runs and 30 doubles with the Baltimore Orioles. In 2010, Vlad was an American League All-Star with the Texas Rangers, hitting at a clip of .300/.345/.496 with 29 home runs, 27 doubles and 115 RBIs.
