Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that a possible trade of Chicago Cubs second baseman, Darwin Barney, shouldn’t be ruled out. The Cubs are reportedly willing to listen on nearly all of their players, and Rosenthal believes a Barney trade could happen.

Rosenthal adds that rival clubs frequently ask the Cubs about the 26-year-old Barney. To this point, no team has offered value that Chicago considers sufficient for a regular second baseman, according to Rosenthal. He says rival teams view Barney as more of a utility type.

The Cubs drafted Barney in the fourth round of the 2007 MLB Draft. After spending three seasons in the minors, Barney made his major league debut in 2010. He then took over as the Cubs regular second baseman last season, hitting at a clip of .276/.313/.353 and finishing seventh in National League Rookie of the Year voting.

On the year, Barney has hit at a clip of .272/.319/.392 with 20 extra-base hits, 30 runs scored and 22 RBIs.
