Draft Links: Mock Drafts, Projecting The First Round, Tidbits

Two days ago, we looked at draft links from around the blogosphere, including Baseball America's Top 500 list as well as the latest on two intriguing prospects in Mark Appel and Carlos Correa. Now as we get even closer to the draft, baseball pundits are getting a good feel of the first-round. Let's take a look at the latest draft news...

  • Keith Law projects the first-round of the draft for ESPN Insider, noting there may be four or five players that could be taken first overall. Nonetheless, Law has Stanford's Mark Appel slated for the first-overall draft pick.
  • Like Law, Baseball Prospectus' Kevin Goldstein also wrote up a mock draft on Friday. He has high school product Byron Buxton going to the Astros first overall and Stanford's Mark Appel going second-overall. But, Goldstein notes there are several candidates for the first overall pick.
  • In an ESPN Insider-only podcast, ESPN's Keith Law and ESPN's Kiley McDaniel cover the first-round from top to bottom.
