The Boston Red Sox have stepped up their efforts to trade veteran infielder Kevin Youkilis, reports Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe. Cafardo lists the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Indians, Pittsburgh Pirates, Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox as the teams in play for Youkilis.

Cafardo says teams are waiting to see the Youkilis of old appear, and there have lately been signs that the 33-year-old is getting to that point. Youkilis has gone 4-10 with two doubles and two walks over his past three games.

Cafardo notes the Red Sox will have to assume most of the remaining $12 million on Youkilis’ contract and the $1 million buyout of his 2013 option. Even then, Cafardo says it will remain to be seen what Boston can get for him.

While the Red Sox could go for a straight salary dump, Cafardo says because of Youkilis’ track record they are looking for something in exchange for him.
