The Milwaukee Brewers have designated pitcher Juan Perez for assignment in order to make room on the team's roster for pitcher Livan Hernandez.
Juan Perez, 33, posted a 5.14 ERA across just 7 innings of work for the Brewers this season. He did strike out 10 batters, but also walked 8 and allowed 2 home runs in the small sample of work. The southpaw has spent most of the year in Triple-A, though, pitching for the Brewers Triple-A affiliate in Nashville. Perez has found success down there, posting a minuscule 0.84 ERA across 10.2 innings of work while striking out 15 to just 4 walks.
As we wrote earlier, the team had just recently signed veteran right-handed pitcher Hernandez this afternoon. The 37-year-old was designated for assignment and eventually released by the Atlanta Braves last week. He'll be working as a reliever out of the Brewers bullpen for now, which should be interesting to watch.
