The Texas Rangers have placed starting pitcher Colby Lewis on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right forearm, reports T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com. The Rangers called up Martin Perez to fill Lewis’ roster spot, and Scott Feldman is slated to start Thursday in place of the right-hander.

Lewis experienced a similar issue with his forearm while pitching in Japan in 2008-09, but this is the first time it has surfaced since he re-signed with the Rangers. Lewis said it is simply tightness in his arm which causes him to have trouble loosening up.

Lewis told reporters that he doesn’t plan on missing more than two starts due to the injury, but the duration of his stay on the DL will be determined by how he feels once he resumes throwing.

Over his 15 starts spanning 100 innings this season, Lewis has maintained an ERA and WHIP of 3.51 and 1.080 with 8.1 SO/9 and 1.1 BB/9.
