Adam Jones Cleared to Play Tuesday

Presswire

Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones has been cleared to play after MRIs on both of his hands and wrists showed only contusions, according to Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com. Jones had been bothered by wrist soreness for the last few weeks.

After experiencing discomfort in his right wrist for some time, the Orioles decided to get Jones checked out during the club’s off day today. Jones remained in Florida following Baltimore’s series against the Tampa Bay Rays and underwent MRIs on both of his hands this morning.

Jones tweeted he was "all good" earlier this morning, and Kubatko confirmed that the MRIs showed the 26-year-old is only dealing with contusions. Jones will take advantage of the O’s off day and has been cleared to play tomorrow when the club begins their series with the Boston Red Sox.

The Orioles and Jones recently reached an agreement on a six-year, $85 million contract extension that will keep Jones in Baltimore through 2018. On the year, Jones has hit at a clip of .315/.363/.602 while leading the Orioles in home runs (16), RBIs (34), hits (68) and OPS (.965).
