With the MLB draft officially over, it's time for teams and player to begin negotiations for signings. Some players will sign quickly, others may wait until the deadline, and the small majority of top draft picks may not sign at all. To stay up to date on first-round signings, keep an eye on our tracker.
According to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic, the Arizona Diamondbacks and first-round draft pick Stryker Trahan are "close" to agreeing to terms on a deal. Piecoro later adds that the Trahan, the 26th overall selection, is expected to take batting practice at Chase Field on Friday. We'll see if this is a foreshadow that the deal could be done by then.
Stryker Trahan is a 6'01" 215 pound high-school senior from Louisiana. ESPN's Keith Law ranked him 24th overall on his big board, noting he's improving defensively and that he'll hit and hit for power at the major league level.
