It’s looking like Los Angeles Angels right-hander Jered Weaver will only be out the required 15 days, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times. Weaver, who was placed on the Angels disabled list May 29, is eligible to be activated on June 13.

The 29-year-old Weaver only lasted 12 pitches during his latest start against the New York Yankees before he had to be removed from the game. Weaver was later diagnosed with lower-back spasms and a strained muscle around a disk in his lower spine, sending him to the Angels DL.
Prior to his injury, Weaver had maintained an ERA and WHIP of 2.61 and 0.928 over his 11 starts this season. Weaver’s WHIP is the third best in the majors among starting pitchers.
Weaver was named an All-Star and finished in the top-five of Cy Young voting each of the past two years. Over his seven seasons with the Angels, Weaver has a career 3.27 ERA and 1.151 WHIP.
