Yankees Expect To Sign Ty Hensley Shortly

The New York Yankees selected right-handed pitcher Ty Hensley with their one and only first-round draft pick in this year's draft. After taking Hensley 30th overall, Yankees director of scouting Damon Oppenheimer told the New York Daily News he expects to sign Hensley shortly, but there are "a few technical things to take care of."

The slot bonus for the 30th overall pick is $1.6 million. The feeling appears to be mutual, as Hensley told Bryan Hoch of MLB.com he intends to sign quickly and begin his pro career. He also hopes to be in the majors in three years, when he's 21 years of age.

ESPN's Keith Law ranked Hensley 36th on his big board, noting his size to go along with two above-average to plus pitches in his fastball and curveball. However, Hensley needs to improve his command and change-up.
