To make room on their roster for Capps, the Twins have optioned right-hander Kyle Waldrop to Triple-A.
Capps hit the Twins’ DL at the end of June due to a recurring shoulder issue. The 28-year-old was shut down for a little over a week before making his last appearance, after which Minnesota decided to shelf him.
Over his 26 1/3 innings for the Twins this season, Capps has maintained an ERA and WHIP of 3.42 and 1.063 with 5.5 SO/9 and 1.4 BB/9. He’s also compiled 14 saves in his 27 appearances.
Waldrop, 26, has appeared in four games for the Twins this season, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks over his four innings pitched.
