The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled OF Alex Presley and optioned utility player Matt Hague to Triple-A Indianapolis. Presley was on the seven-day disabled list after suffering a concussion on July 3.

Presley has struggled this season, managing just a .242/.276/.395 slash line in 228 plate appearances.

Pittsburgh stand just one game behind the National League Central leader, the Cincinnati Reds. Obviously, Bucs' manager Clint Hurdle hopes Presley can return to last year's form, when he hit .298/.339/.465.

Matt Hague heads to Triple-A to make room for Presley on the 25-man roster.

The Pirates have been connected to Justin Upton, another OF, over the past few days, but it is unknown if the team is willing to surrender the prospects that the Diamondbacks would likely ask for in a proposed trade. Pittsburgh has two top pitching prospects in the minor leagues in Jameson Taillon and Gerrit Cole.
