The New York Mets primary goal this summer is adding to their struggling bullpen, but the club has found that most available relievers are either too pricey or offer too little of an upgrade to be worth an acquisition, reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com:

The Mets' main trade-deadline goal is to bolster a bullpen that ranks 30th of 30 teams, but have found most available relievers to fall into one of two categories -- "too pricey'' or "little upgrade.''

Heyman notes that former Met and current Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Francisco Rodriguez and San Diego Padres closer Huston Street fit into the category of "too pricey."

Beyond Rodriguez and Street, Heyman adds that the Mets could target Seattle Mariners right-hander Brandon League, Houston Astros right-handers Brett Myers and Brandon Lyon, and Colorado Rockies right-hander Rafael Betancourt.

It was reported yesterday that the Mets are "paying close attention" to Kansas City Royals closer Jonathan Broxton.
