The Cleveland Indians have promoted right-hander Cody Allen from Triple-A, reports Paul Hoynes of The Plain Dealer:

To make room on their roster for Allen, the Indians optioned left-hander Scott Barnes to Triple-A.

Allen’s next appearance with the Indians will mark his major league debut. The 23-year-old started the season with the Indians’ High-A affiliate before being promoted to Double- and Triple-A.

Over his 31 minor league appearances, spanning 43 1/3 innings, the right-hander has maintained an ERA and WHIP of 1.87 and 0.785 with 11.0 SO/9 and 1.9 BB/9.

Barnes appeared in seven games for the Indians this season, allowing nine runs on 12 hits and seven walks with 10 strikeouts over his 10 innings pitched. The 24-year-old has spent most of the season pitching for the Indians’ Triple-A affiliate, posting a combined ERA and WHIP of 3.51 and 1.110.
