The Washington Nationals will place shortstop Ian Desmond on the Disabled List with an oblique tear, according Byron Kerr of MASN.

Many sources report that Desmond will miss about two weeks. The 26-year-old entered Sunday with a remarkable .286/.322/503 line on the season and his absence will create a hole in Washington's lineup that Corey Brown hopes to fill.

Brown has had a fantastic season with Triple-A Syracuse, reaching base safely at a .384 clip and mashing 21 round-trippers. The outfielder has reached the majors for cups of coffee twice before, this time hoping to stick with the big league club.
