Update 3:32 PM EST: The Red Sox are not in the Hanley Ramirez sweepstakes, reports Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston.
Original Story: The Oakland Athletics have joined the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays in trade talks with the Miami Marlins for third baseman Hanley Ramirez, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today:
The Oakland #Athletics, desperate for infield help, have jumped into trade talks for #Marlins Hanley Ramirez, joining #BlueJays and #RedSox.

It was reported earlier today by Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports that Ramirez could be the next member of the Marlins to be traded. Beyond the Red Sox and Athletics, Rosenthal noted that the Los Angeles Dodgers could also be interested in Ramirez.
Ramirez is currently sidelined due to a self-inflicted injury that his manager, Ozzie Guillen, called "stupid" and "immature."
Ramirez has struggled over the past two seasons, but he does own a career OPS of .873. The 28-year-old is making $15 million this year and is set to make $15.5 million and $16 million during the 2013-14 seasons.
