As we make our way towards the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, make no mistake the Colorado Rockies will be sellers. Among players that could be shipped out over the next several days, middle infielder Marco Scutaro remains the most likely player on the Rockies, according to Troy E. Renck of The Denver Post.
Marco Scutaro remains the most likely player to be dealt...
Scutaro has $2.3 million remaining on the final year of his contract and is appealing because he can play shortstop and second base - and he has experience in both leagues.
The Washington Nationals, who are seeking middle infield depth, and the Tampa Bays, who could use offensive production just about anywhere on the diamond, were among other teams recently scouting Scutaro. The 36-year-old is hitting .269/.320/.355 in 93 games on the season.
Beyond Scutaro, other Colorado trade candidates include catcher Ramon Hernandez and relievers Rafael Betancourt and Matt Reynolds.
