The Cincinnati Reds rejected a trade that would have sent right-handed reliever Logan Ondrusek to the Philadelphia Phillies for outfielder Shane Victorino, a source has told Paul Daugherty of the CIncinnati Enquirer.

The interest in Pierre and Victorino is still there, though. One Reds insider said a straight-up Ondrusek-for-Victorino deal was nixed by The Club.

The news brings credence to yesterday's rumors that the Phillies actively are shopping Victorino for bullpen help. While the nixing of a deal does not mean the Reds are completely out of the picture, it may open the door for the Dodgers if they are willing to part with righty reliever Josh Lindblom.

The reason for the Reds' unwillingness to part with Ondrusek is not immediately evident. Now in his third season with the Reds, the 27-year-old Ondrusek owns a solid 2.70 ERA in 36 2/3 innings pitched but has struggled with his command. The right-hander owns a 4.7 BB/9 rate this year to go with just 6.1 K/9.

Should the Reds have traded Ondrusek for Victorino straight-up?
