Reds Rumors: Juan Pierre, Shane Victorino, Denard Span

The Cincinnati Reds continue to pursue Philadelphia Phillies outfielders Shane Victorino and Juan Pierre as well as Minnesota Twins outfielder Denard Span, reports Jim Bowden of ESPN:

The Reds reportedly turned down an offer from the Phillies of Victorino for right-handed reliever Logan Ondrusek earlier this week.

It was reported this morning that Philadelphia is seeking a young but proven setup reliever and a young outfielder or third baseman in any trade involving Victorino. However, with the Phillies recent hot streak, the club may decide not to trade their center fielder this summer.

The Reds have been tied to Span, but he’s reportedly not going to come cheap. Still, the emergence of young center fielder Ben Revere apparently has the Twins more open to trading Span than fellow outfielder Josh Willingham.

Earlier this month, Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said he’d like to upgrade several spots, including leadoff and cleanup as well as Cincinnati’s bench and pitching.
