Having cleared waivers (as expected), the Baltimore Orioles have outrighted left-handed pitcher Dana Eveland to Class Triple-A Norfolk, according to Rock Kubatko of MASNSports.com.

A victim of the numbers game, the Orioles needed to designate Eveland for assignment in order to make room on the roster for right-handed pitcher Miguel Socolovich. The southpaw posted a 4.73 ERA across 32 1/3 innings of work this season, along with a 5.0 K/9, 3.6 BB/9 and 0.8 HR/9.

The journeyman reliever Eveland has thrown for 7 different teams in the majors since 2006. But for now, the 28-year-old Eveland will head to Class Triple-A Norfolk and hope to work his way for another opportunity with Baltimore at the big league level. If he wants to carve out a role with a team, he will need to be tougher on left-handed batters.
