The Toronto Blue Jays have designated right-handed reliever David Pauley for assignment, tweet Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.

Acquired off waivers by the Blue Jays two weeks ago, the 29-year-old right-hander made just four appearances for Toronto, giving up four earned runs in just 3 1/3 innings of work.

Released by the Detroit Tigers during spring training, Pauley signed a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Angels in late March. Pauley appeared in five games for the Angels, putting up a 4.35 ERA in 10 1/3 innings work before being placed on waivers.

Right-hander Drew Carpenter, 27, has been promoted to the Toronto bullpen from Triple-A Las Vegas in Pauley's stead. Picked off the waiver wire last winter, Carpenter has a 3.38 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 74 2/3 innings pitched at Triple-A this season.
