The New York Mets are looking to bolster their bullpen, and Milwaukee Brewers setup man Francisco Rodriguez is on their list of targets, reports Ken Davidoff of The New York Post.

The Mets want to upgrade their bullpen, and the Brewers’ Francisco Rodriguez is on their list of targets, a person familiar with the club’s thinking said yesterday.

The Brewers are reportedly considering selling this summer, and Rodriguez figures to be one of the veteran players Milwaukee could potentially make available.

New York traded Rodriguez to the Brewers last July for Adrian Rosario and Danny Herrera. Over parts of two seasons with Milwaukee, K-Rod has maintained an ERA and WHIP of 3.05 and 1.323 with 9.0 SO/9 and 3.5 BB/9.

Davidoff believes there are several reasons Rodriguez would be a good fit for the Mets. Davidoff says the right-hander won’t be overwhelmed by anything New York has to offer, he won’t cost much to acquire, and that he presents potential upside in returning to the closer’s role.
