There were several transactions of note taking place in the American League in the past 24 hours. The Baltimore Orioles optioned right-hander Jake Arrieta to Triple-A, the Seattle Mariners optioned right-hander Hector Noesi to Triple-A and recalled outfielder Carlos Peguero, and the Minnesota Twins optioned first baseman Chris Parmelee to Triple-A and recalled right-hander Samuel Deduno.

Arrieta was sent down after allowing six runs on five hits and three walks over 3 2/3 innings to the Los Angeles Angels last night. The Orioles haven’t announced a corresponding roster move, but it is expected to be for a bat and not another pitcher since they don’t need a starter to replace Arrieta in their rotation before the All-Star break.
Noesi gave up four earned runs over five innings to the Orioles on Wednesday, increasing his ERA to 5.77 on the season. Peguero maintained an OPS of 1.002 with the Mariners’ Triple-A affiliate, hitting five home runs over his last five games.
Parmelee only maintained a line of .194/.278/.320 over his 103 at-bats with the Twins this season. Deduno posted an ERA and WHIP of 2.14 and 1.167 over his nine starts spanning 42 innings for Minnesota’s Triple-A affiliate.
