Francisco Liriano Rumors: Teams Wary of Twins' LHP

While teams, such as the Atlanta Braves, have expressed interest in Minnesota Twins left-hander Francisco Liriano, they are still "wary of trading for him," reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Twins left-hander Francisco Liriano is 3-2 with a 2.74 ERA in eight starts since returning to the team’s rotation, but most clubs still are wary of trading for him.

Rosenthal notes that despite Liriano’s recent revival on the mound, it remains "doubtful" that any team will "part with significant prospects" since there is no possibility of draft-pick compensation under the new collective bargaining agreement.

Teams have soured so much on Liriano that some like him more as a reliever than a starter, reports Rosenthal. This is another reason why his value will likely be down this summer.

Even with his recent improvement, Liriano still owns an ugly season ERA and WHIP of 5.08 and 1.488. The 28-year-old sports a career ERA of 4.28 and 1.345 with 8.9 SO/9 and 3.7 BB/9.
